Spring break to meet Oxford

C’est à Oxford, dans cette petite ville anglaise, chargée d’histoire que nous avons passé notre dimanche ♥

Oxford est notamment connu pour l’incontournable Christ Church l’un des plus grands et plus riches collèges de l’Université d’Oxford. qui date de presque 500 ans ! Mais c’est aussi à Oxford qu’est née Alice et que Lewis Caroll a trouvé l’inspiration pour son Wonderland.

Lewis Carroll (Charles Lutwidge Dodgson) enseignait à Christ Church. Il s’est lié d’amitié avec le doyen du collège et sa fille de dix ans Alice Liddell. Elle demanda a Lewis Carroll de lui écrire une histoire spécialement pour elle. Et voilà comment est né le célèbre livre.

C’est aussi grace à cette ville dans ce style so British que vous retrouverez l’univers d’Harry Potter et certains lieux de tournage des films !

L’université d’Oxford est la plus ancienne d’Angleterre et l’une des plus prestigieuses du monde. Elle compte actuellement environ 19 000 étudiants répartis dans 39 collège. On commencera par visiter la Christ Church ! L’architecture m’a vraiment transportée dans l’univers d’Harry Potter ♥

Le collège a d’ailleurs été utilisé pour tourner la scène des escaliers et également inspirer les décors de la Grande Salle des deux premiers films d’Harry Potter. » C’est ici aussi que Lewis Carroll s’est inspiré d’Alice Liddell, la fille du doyen de Christ Church pour créer son personnage d’Alice au pays des merveilles.

The college’s grand staircase features in both The Philosopher’s Stone and The Chamber of Secrets.

Nous sommes passées sous ce joli pont qui relie Hertford College à la célèbre Bodleian Library. Et derrière ce pont on peut apercevoir la petite coupole bleue du Sheldonian Theatre.

Après cette journée à marcher dans les rues d’Oxford, nous sommes allées dans le joli parc de Oxford University pour profiter de cette magnifique journée chaude et ensoleillée avant de repartir pour Londres ♥
